Twelve years dark — back online
Play Unreal Tournament 3 Online on PS3 (2026)
Retail PS3 hardware on stock firmware — verified on 4.93, the last official update. Six community servers running 24/7 — and, since July 29, 2026, a PS3 can host its own game that players anywhere in the world can find and join. No PC emulation, no proxy hack — a reconstructed master server answering on the same port GameSpy silenced on May 31, 2014.
Set these DNS values on your PS3
Primary DNS
15.204.233.35
Secondary DNS
1.1.1.1 (any public DNS works as fallback)
PS3's DNS field accepts only numeric IPs — you can't type a hostname there. The friendly hostname dns.ut3mod.com resolves to the same IP if you ever want to verify from a desktop.

A PS3 can host its own online game
Hosting is no longer limited to our six servers. A console can host a game that other PS3s anywhere in the world see in the in-game server browser and join directly — with no port forwarding and no router configuration by either player. The first working cross-console joins were on July 29, 2026, and it has been confirmed since across four console pairs on three continents: US–Australia, US–Poland and US–Italy.
- You host from the console's own menus. Any gametype your copy of the game offers works — including Duel, Betrayal and Campaign Co-op, which our dedicated servers don't run.
- Both kinds of host work: a listen server, where you play in your own match, and a dedicated PS3 server, where the console hosts without playing and all 16 slots stay open. One host stayed up 33 hours straight.
- Private matches stay private. They are deliberately not listed in the public browser.

The in-game Mod Browser works again too
The DNS change above does more than restore multiplayer. Unreal Tournament 3's built-in Mod Browser — Community → Mod Browser, dead since Epic shut the service down around 2013 — now lists community mods again. Your PS3 downloads, unpacks and installs them on its own. No PC, no USB drive, no modified console.
If you have already set the DNS values above, it is working right now. How to use the Mod Browser →

The six community servers — 24/7, 16 slots each
- Warfare — UT3MOD-WAR
- Deathmatch — UT3MOD-DM
- Capture the Flag — UT3MOD-CTF
- Vehicle CTF — UT3MOD-VCTF
- Team Deathmatch — UT3MOD-TDM
- Greed — UT3MOD-GREED · needs the free Titan Pack
This panel lists those six dedicated servers only. Games hosted by other players' consoles aren't counted here — you'll see those in the server browser on your PS3.
Find a match
Once your DNS is set, jump in the UT3MOD Discord to coordinate matches with other PS3 players, report downtime, and see who's online right now.
Join the UT3MOD Discord →How to Connect — Step by Step
- From the PS3 Home Menu, open Settings → Network Settings.
- Select Internet Connection Settings and press X.
- Choose Custom. Not Easy — Easy uses your router's DNS, which won't reach our server.
- Pick the connection method that matches your setup — Wired or Wireless.
- For most settings on the next screens, leave the defaults (Auto / Automatic) until you reach the DNS screen.
- When you reach DNS Setting, choose Manual and enter:
Primary DNS: 15.204.233.35
Secondary DNS: 1.1.1.1 - MTU: Automatic.
- Proxy Server: Do Not Use.
- UPnP: Enable.
- Save the settings, then run Test Connection.
- The PS3 will report Internet Connection: Succeeded — you're set.
- Launch Unreal Tournament 3, sign in to PSN, then go to Multiplayer → Join Game and pick any gametype tab.
- Pick a UT3MOD server from the list and join.
BLES-00200 (EU) and BLUS-30086 (US). The free Titan Pack update isn't required to connect, but Greed and Betrayal games only show up in the browser on consoles that have it.
Host your own game
There is nothing extra to install and nothing to change on your router. If you've done the DNS steps above, your console can already host.
- From UT3's main menu, choose Multiplayer → Host Game — not Join Game. Pick the gametype, map and rules you want.
- Tell whoever you're playing with to open Multiplayer → Join Game, choose the tab for your gametype and hit Refresh.
- Your game is listed under your PSN name — that's what they should look for. They join it straight from the list, the same way they'd join one of our servers.
They need the same DNS setting on their own console, and they can be anywhere — hosts and players on different continents have been connecting since July 29, 2026.
You can also leave a console hosting without playing on it. That runs as a dedicated server, so all 16 slots stay free for other people. Either way, a match you set up as a private one is not listed publicly — only games meant to be public appear in the browser.
Hosting your own game is the only way to play the modes our servers don't run — Duel, Betrayal and Campaign Co-op among them. Betrayal needs the Titan Pack on both ends: yours to host it, theirs to see it.
Get the Titan Pack while the PS3 store is still open
The Titan Pack is a free add-on for Unreal Tournament 3, listed on the PlayStation Store under the game's add-ons. Without it, Greed and Betrayal don't appear in the in-game server browser at all — not as empty tabs; the tabs aren't there. We watched this happen in both directions: a player who could only see the base-game tabs installed the Titan Pack and could immediately see and join a Betrayal game.
Sony is closing the PlayStation Store on PS3. The first countries — Mexico, Honduras and Nicaragua — lose it in August 2026, more of Latin America and the Middle East follow later in 2026, and everywhere else closes in July 2027. Sony says content already on your account stays downloadable after that, but once the store shuts in your region you can no longer add the Titan Pack to it.
As of August 2026 the listing is still up and downloading normally — we checked. If you have a PS3 and a copy of UT3, it's worth adding the Titan Pack to your account now even if you don't play today. It costs nothing, and after your region's date it isn't obtainable any more.
Players who've tried it
Don't take our word for it — these are unaffiliated players who connected and recorded what happened.
- MAWK3 — live stream on the community servers
April 2026. Viewers joined during the broadcast; around 25 players were connected at once — the first real load test the servers had.
- Bitter Roman — "Unreal Tournament 3 is BACK ONLINE on PS3"
May 2026. Gameplay from a match played with MAWK3, with the DNS settings and a link to this page pinned in the comments.
- KillerSopla — walkthrough in Spanish
May 2026. Walks through the DNS setup step by step and confirms it works on a completely stock console as well as a jailbroken one. "Yo lo jugué, yo lo probé y se puede jugar bastante bien."
Why this exists
When GameSpy shut down on May 31, 2014, hundreds of games lost their online multiplayer overnight — including Unreal Tournament 3 on PS3. In December 2022, Epic Games said they had plans to restore UT3's online features through Epic Online Services. More than three years later, nothing has shipped.
This server exists to keep a piece of gaming history playable on the hardware it was made for. The community rebuilt the back-end from the protocol up: packet captures, a patched flag-byte that shipped broken in the original handshake, and a master server now answering requests from real consoles.
We don't distribute the game. We don't modify it. We don't profit from it. If Epic ever ships their promised revival, we'll shut ours down and point players there.
If something breaks
"Offline" or "Not signed in" inside UT3
The game's PSN auth is hitting our redirected GameSpy auth path on first launch after a DNS change. Quit UT3 and relaunch it once after changing DNS — this clears the stale auth state.
Server list is empty after refresh
Confirm Primary DNS is exactly 15.204.233.35 with no spaces, and that the PS3's connection test reports Succeeded. Also try the other gametype tabs — our six servers are always up, and games hosted by other players show under whichever tab matches the mode they picked.
There's no Greed or Betrayal tab on my console
Those two modes come from the Titan Pack, so a console without it has no tab to show — our Greed server and any Betrayal game someone is hosting are invisible to you until you install it. It's a free add-on, and the PS3 store that carries it is closing.
Nobody can find the game I'm hosting
Check that you didn't start it as a private match — those are deliberately kept out of the public browser. Otherwise: the other player needs the same DNS set on their console, needs to be on the tab for the mode you're running, and should look for your PSN name rather than a UT3MOD server name. If you're hosting Betrayal, they need the Titan Pack to see it.
"Network error" mid-game
Mid-match disconnects are usually local internet, not server-side. Check your home connection first, then re-join. If it keeps happening on the same map, note the map and email [email protected] so we can reproduce.
The master server is one person and a spreadsheet away from being the only thing keeping PS3 UT3 online.
